Not exactly sure who or what’s to blame, but we live in a culture of cynicism.

We lack wonder, astonishment…awe.

We know it all, have seen it all, and there’s no room for amazement.

I think bitterness is to blame.

Bitterness callouses our souls. It desensitizes us from experiencing the beauty to be had in this life.

We harden our hearts in an effort of protection, but it’s truly our demise.

We lose our ability to taste, see, and experience because our love receptors have been burned.

Bitterness keeps them in the fire.

And it’s all we know how to do. When you’ve been hurt so badly, how do you not build a bitter fortress around your heart?

But, if you run to bitterness to protect you, it will only destroy you. It will squeeze whatever life is left in your feeble heart. It’ll make you question everything and find comfort in nothing. You’ll never be amazed.

It’ll make you side eye all that’s lovely.

So, give it up. The grudges, the pain, the unforgiveness, the bitterness. Let it go.

It’s heavy and stifling. And it stinks.

And it will only give you a bitter end.

Hope this helps!

Below is a photo I took a couple weeks ago. It’s the most recent time I’ve been amazed…one of the loveliest of days.

I just pictured a heart engulfed in fire when I read “your love receptors have been burned. On a more serious note – you are so right. Bitterness is poison!

“Love receptors have been burned,” definitely the killer line of this blog. It just gave me a clear picture of how bitterness blocks me from being able to enjoy life…..On point Ambini!
