Ummmm ex-squeeze me! Who knew that Facebook market place was not only a treasure trove of nonsense, but also a pet plant palace?!

I didn’t until this week.

I was looking for nonsense I don’t need and decided to specifically look for nonsense I don’t need in the form of plants. And bingo, jackpot, touchdown, et. al.

The kid found the green thumb grannies!!!

Basically, I found 2 grannies in my local area who sell all sorts and varieties of plans on the low, low.

Granny #1. I’m calling this woman a granny because 1. She’s older. B. She legit was like I’m watching my grandkids today, so we have to work around that schedule. iii. See #1. Any who, lady was letting off on a sizeable rubber leaf plant for $8. She also gave me some tips and tricks to toot that plant up. So win!

Granny #2. This lady had a FB pic that was either someone else or a heavy heavy edit filter combo, but I am one who LIVES for a catfish so no problem. Anyway, we were dealing with limited English but St. Thomas and Puerto Rico are neighboring islands so by that fact alone I’m fluent in Spanish. I am CHATTING her up. We are lost and never found in translation. By the sheer kindness of her dealing with me and my yapping and neither of us understanding, I told her keep the change (from $10…ballllllinnnnnn) on the large aloe plant she sold me for $7. But do you know when this lady became Mi Abuelita?! She threw in a baby aloe plant for me. I was like oh wow so you’re just going to give me warm milk and cookies and rock this Black girl to sleep. Ok ok, I love you.

Any savings I made were swiftly lost by me heading to Lowe’s & Marshall’s for cute plant pots.

But, I just want to put you on game. The pet plants you need or don’t need may be a granny meeting away in your local area via Facebook marketplace.

On a serious note, beyond the plants being great, I really received lots of joy by simply interacting with older women and receiving something from them that they cared for. Fuzzies and feelies, but for realsies.

Let me know if you have any other tips on where you source your plants.

Aloe plants from my new abuelita. If you zoom on my toes, you’ll catch these hands.
