A few weeks ago I heard fear.

I knew it was her. I recognized her voice.

And fear sounds a lot like Siri.

Instructional and believable. Her voice is calm and steady…confident.

She said run and retreat. Hide from your situation.

Her volume was on full blast. Not because she’s a loud, rachet woman, but because I turned her up. I pressed that side button up to hear her.

And more devastatingly, I listened.

I wish fear sounded like my morning alarm. Loud but irritating, so I would quickly hit snooze.

But since fear sounds like Siri, I often listen. She sounds like she has something important to say, especially when I don’t know what to do.

See when you know what to do, where to go, and how to get there you rarely rely on Siri or fear.

You just live.

You simply do what you need to do.

But fear’s instructions never give you the advice to live. It tells you to shrink back and diminish yourself.

I wish I better recognized the voice of Peace. The confident assurance that I can do all things through Christ.

Because in the end, that’s really the only voice worth listening to.
